This is one of the commonest hybrids found in the southern parts of the British Isles. The two parent species often grow in close proximity, and usually interbreed prolifically. The hybrids can be exceedingly robust and usually have lightly spotted leaves and dense flower spikes, the individual flowers having rather broad lips.
