Dactylorhiza
fuchsii x Gymnadenia conopsea
(Bigeneric Hybrid between Common Spotted and Fragrant
Orchids)
Photographed by Tony Hughes, Kent
This hybrid is most likely to be found in Southern England where both
parents are commonly found, particularly on chalk downland. The leaves
are usually lightly spotted and the flowers are nicely scented. The specimen
photographed here has a rather broader lip than some, but the strong markings
on the lip are typical.
