HOS Membership Secretary’s Report to AGM 2009
I have now completed three years as HOS Membership Secretary. Over that time, membership has grown, though with less increase in 2008/09 than in the previous two years.
The membership figures are on the back of the Treasurer’s Report.
· As always, some members retired this year or simply failed to renew their memberships in spite of reminders: 65 memberships ended this year
· Sadly I must report the deaths of 6 members during the year – Mike Earnshaw, Cecil Routley, Denis Weimer, David Slimming, John Rennie and Sheila Morten
· Recruitment continued, though at a slightly lower rate than last year. We recruited people to 64 new Memberships, with a major trend towards more Family Memberships
· The combined result of these two changes is that we have small increase in both total members and M3emberships this year

I would like to finish by thanking all the members of HOS who have made my time as Membership Secretary a pleasant and interesting one. I’ve made lots of friends doing this job and now look forward to handing the role over to Moira Tarrant.
